The Office

Saturday 22 May
Seminar Room 1, Sackler Centre
14.00-17.00

Investigate the history of the office and explore its future role and design with design historians and architects Kevin Haley and David Chambers. The office dominates the working lives of millions of people and has had a profound influence on culture and lifestyle as well as furniture and architecture.  Yet it dates back little more than 150 years. Often driven by technological developments such as the lightbulb, typewriter, telephone, and computer, it has evolved from private study, to cubicle, to open-plan, to paperless zone, to home working.
